It's Time to Start Moving Better and Training Better

It time to start shifting from generic workouts and reactive care to a smarter, movement‑driven approach that builds long‑term performance. It’s the moment an athlete stops relying on talent alone and starts developing the mechanics, strength, and control needed to train efficiently, reduce injury risk, and compete with confidence.

Inital Assessments / Movement Screens
This is typically a 50 to 55 minute individual process that includes a slight warmup, followed by a Functional Movement ScreenTM, a lower body Y-Balance assessment (potentially a upper body assessment as well) and finally a focused assessment of any specific deficits that are seen. All of the information gathered will be compiled for the patient and provided to them for their own records through the FMS Pro as well as the Move2Perform systems.
Cost – $100 / session
Performance Restoration Sessions
These individual client session are made to address specific findings from and “Initial Assessment / Full Movement Assessment” or at times physicians will suggest a “Phase 3” or “Bridge” program that fills the gaps between formal physical therapy and return to play status, that is the basis for these sessions. This type of session is also roughly 50 to 55 minutes in length and can include corrective exercise techniques, strengthening activities, manual therapy techniques, and at times specific modalities usage. These sessions are similar but slightly different than true rehabilitation, they are structured to help clients get back to participation in their specific sport or activity with a focus on the movement skills, strength requirements, agility needs of their specific sport.
Cost – $75 / Session
Movement Optimization Sessions
These sessions are also roughly 50 -55 minutes a piece, their focus is to maximize the ability for the clients to be a better overall athlete. Focus on muscular endurance, muscular strength and ability to produce power, which are all important factors for athletes. Each of the previous attributes as well as the ability to change directions and change speeds are the core attributes of athleticism. Each sport or activity has their own mixture of needs that might differ from others, and a long-term program can be discussed.
Individual Client Cost – $75 / session
Multiple Client Cost – $50 / client / session

Taping within Building the Better Athlete is used as a strategic performance tool, applying techniques like DynamicTape® to assist high‑demand movement patterns, Kinesio Tape® and KT Tape® to enhance neuromuscular activation and proprioception, and traditional athletic taping to provide firm joint stability when needed. Each method supports movement efficiency, reduces unnecessary stress on tissues, and reinforces proper mechanics during training, sport‑specific work, or return‑to‑sport progressions. By selecting the right tape for the athlete’s sport, maturation stage, and training age, taping becomes an integrated part of improving how athletes move, train, and perform.

Myofascial release techniques within Building the Better Athlete are used to improve tissue mobility, reduce restrictions, and enhance overall movement efficiency. Tools like Graston Technique®, HawkGrips®, and other IASTM methods help break down adhesions, stimulate mechanoreceptors, and restore proper soft‑tissue glide, allowing athletes to move with less discomfort and better control. Cupping therapy is integrated as a complementary technique to improve circulation, reduce tension, and create decompression in areas of tightness or overuse. Together, these approaches support cleaner movement patterns, faster recovery, and more effective training by preparing the body to handle progressive loading and sport‑specific demands.

Blood flow restriction (BFR) training is a safe, research‑supported way to help athletes get stronger using much lighter weights than usual. By gently limiting blood flow leaving the muscle—while still allowing blood to enter—BFR makes the muscles work harder and creates the same kind of training effect you’d get from heavy lifting. This is especially helpful for athletes recovering from injury, dealing with soreness, or going through growth phases where heavy loads aren’t ideal. Within Building the Better Athlete, BFR is used to boost strength, support recovery, and keep athletes progressing even when full‑intensity training isn’t appropriate, helping them train smarter and continue building long‑term performance.

Recovery tools like Normatec®, Hyperice®, and similar technologies play an important role in helping athletes bounce back faster and train more consistently within Building the Better Athlete. These tools use compression, vibration, percussion, and targeted cooling or heating to improve circulation, reduce soreness, and support tissue recovery after high‑intensity training or competition. For developing athletes—especially those managing heavy practice schedules, multi‑sport demands, or growth‑related fatigue—these recovery methods offer a safe, efficient way to restore movement quality and prepare the body for the next training session. Integrated into our programming, recovery tools help athletes feel better, move better, and maintain the long‑term consistency needed to build durable performance.

Some additional services that are sport specific

We offer comprehensive Volleyball Combine & Performance Testing designed to give athletes clear, college‑recruiting‑ready data. Each athlete completes standardized assessments including vertical jump, block touch, approach touch, agility tests such as the T‑Test and 5‑10‑5, and additional movement and performance measures. These metrics provide coaches and recruiters with objective, comparable information while helping athletes track progress and highlight their strengths throughout the recruiting process.

This program is designed to prepare young athletes for safe, confident, and effective training in the weight room, especially those with little or no prior lifting experience. Athletes learn the foundational squat and hinge patterns through step‑by‑step instruction, hands‑on coaching, and age‑appropriate progressions that emphasize proper form, stability, and movement quality. By building strong fundamentals early, athletes develop the skills they need to train safely, improve performance, and transition smoothly into more advanced strength work as their training age grows.

Why Building the Better Athlete?

Our approach is built on helping every athlete understand how their body moves and why certain strategies make a difference in performance and injury prevention. These are our main reasons why to choose us.
